Haiti

The news of Haiti's Earthquake were shocking. Two within a week. War is bad enough. Men perpetuate war, other men then try to fix the ruins left by previous men's distraction. Natural disasters seem as terrifying. The numbers of lives dead, orphaned or tortured within the ruins... With such horrifying possibilities that mother nature can bring forth onto human kind, how can men impose further violence? These tragedies make it difficult for one to go on with normal pleasures of the daily life when every bite of food and every gulp of pure water feel a heavy burden: a burden of inability to share with orphaned and hungry fellow men. What does one to do? Perhaps, admire the resiliency of people suffering, as well as bravery and altruism of those helping. Perhaps, enjoy the simplest fruits of life's givings with a grateful heart. Perhaps, always be available for those suffering near, while being ready to extent a hand for the needy. Perhaps, in the corner of one's mind always being ready for a possibility of such disasters to strike when one will also be forced to practice resilience in the face of danger, bravery and altruism in the face of extreme need.
